New version imminent! Big changes - dropping hotels and cars!
Greetings TripStalkers! I write this on the verge of the biggest TripStalker release in some time. We have made some difficult decisions for this release, but we feel it is in the best interest of our fellow TripStalkers. Probably the most shocking change to our users is that we have decided to drop the Car and Hotel feature from TripStalker. You will still be able to book these directly from our website and as 'companions' to your air travel, however we will not stalk these items or give trip alerts for hotels or cars independently.
Why have we decided to make this move?
Quite simply we wanted to be more focused. The development of TripStalker has been slow and we want to speed it up. There are many features we want to add into the application and by focusing on air travel alerts we will be able to perfect this aspect of TripStalker. At a later date we may circle back around to hotels and cars, but for now we are focusing on air travel. In addition airline ticket prices are by far the most volatile and thus the most suited to stalking.
If you have existing Hotel and Car stalks you will still be able to book these through the website. However, as of the next release, you will not be able to enter in new hotel or car stalks.
To the majority of TripStalkers who use TripStalker for air fare alerts, I think you will be very pleased with this next release. We have opened up the interface, given more room to air stalks, introduced historical graphing of the stalk price and dramatically improved the scraping engine for checking on the price of your trip. There is still a lot of room for improvement, but we believe this release is a strategic shift for us and will allow us to more rapidly roll out new features for the air fare alerts.
Thank you and stay tuned!
